How to Create Your Profile Listing

This page will cover a full walkthrough for creating your listing on Leadership Coach Directory. We’ll cover instructions, best practices, and our recommendations to get the most out of this feature and attract new clients.

Table of Contents

1. Create a New Listing

  1. Log into your account
  2. Click the black “Create My Profile” button
    • This will take you to a new page where you can edit your listing. The following steps will cover each section of this edit area.

What is a Listing?

Your profile listing serves as a searchable item within our directory. It’s the primary way clients will find you, your experience, and your contact information. All of the information you enter into your listing will be displayed on your public profile listing page.

We recommend you fill out your profile listing with as much detail as possible, as it will give clients a great understanding of your work style.

2. Basics

  1. Enter your title
    • This is how you introduce yourself to clients. We recommend the following format:

    • [First Name] [Last Name], [ICF Certification Type], [2-4 words that describe your coaching]

Example: Jane Doe, ACC – Prioritizing empathy in decision making

  2. Select your category
    • More info about these categories can be found here.
    •
  3. Enter your location
    • Regardless of if you work in-person or not, a location is still required. You only need to enter your city.

3. Description

Tip: You can save your progress at any time! Make sure you have all the required fields answered, then hit “Save.”

  1. Write an in-depth description
    • Use this area to introduce yourself and your approach to coaching.
    •
    • We recommend 1-4 paragraphs about your coaching business, what you specialize in, how you’ve helped other clients, and what sets you apart from other coaches.
    •
    • This is also a great place to link to blog posts, videos, podcasts, and other media about your coaching.
    •
  2. Optional: Include keywords
    • Keywords serve as tags associated with your profile.  They won’t appear on your listing page, but do contribute to search results.
    •
    • List phrases, terms, or other words not listed in the specialties section.
    •
  3. Select your specialties
    • Select the areas you are especially proficient with in helping clients.

How to Write a Compelling Description

The description area is your opportunity to tell clients how you stand out as a coach and how you can best serve their needs. We encourage coaches to be thorough when crafting a description and include external media links where relevant.

Here are some tips to get the most out of your listing:

    1. Lead with Your Niche – Clearly state who you help and what you specialize in (e.g., “I help emerging leaders build confidence and communicate with impact”).

    2. Show Results – Highlight outcomes you help clients achieve, not just what you do (e.g., “My clients have landed promotions, overcome burnout, and found renewed purpose”).

    3. Keep It Conversational – Write in a warm, approachable tone. Avoid jargon, unfamiliar acronyms, or overly formal language.

    4. Share a Personal Hook – Include a short personal insight or story that builds trust and shows your “why.”

    5. Use Keywords Thoughtfully – Incorporate relevant terms like “executive coaching,” “career transition,” or “ICF-certified” to improve visibility in searches.

    6. Include Credibility Markers – Mention certifications, qualifications, industries served, or years of experience.

    7. Speak Directly to the Reader – Use “you” language to connect (e.g., “If you’re feeling stuck, I’ll help you move forward with clarity”).

    8. End with a Call to Action – Invite them to book a consult, explore your site, or reach out directly.

    4. Details

    1. Include your services and working information
      • Services appear in a special format at the bottom of your listing page, and give clients an overview of your offerings and prices.
      •
      • We recommend including at least 1 service. Services can be anything you offer, from standard meeting rates, initial consultation/discovery calls, classes/seminars, to premium services.
      •
      • The next fields are about your working structure.
        1. Hourly Rate: An optional separate field to provide your base hourly rate for clients.
        2. Working Model: How you meet with clients.
